Day Six: Helping the Ladies of Charity at St. Hugo's

Friday morning we headed down the road to St. Hugo's Catholic Church to lend a hand to the Ladies of Charity.  We sized, sorted and folded clothes, matched shoes and put everything in the proper bins.  The girls worked very hard and by lunch were beginning to fade.  The Ladies of Charity collect clothing and food for many local services that provide assistance to people in need.

After being revived by a lunch of fruit, pizza and cookies work continued for another hour.

We gathered back at Sacred Heart to work on our journals and begin planning our output digital magazine.

Tomorrow is our last day of Project Term 2018.  This has been a very full week of Serving, Sharing, Exploring and Enjoying.

Day 5: A Fine Day in Grand Rapids!

Caterpillars were out chomping on leaves and the butterflies were everywhere in the butterfly house at the Fred Meijer Gardens.  Beautiful!

The garden also has an amazing collection of sculpture.  Below is one by Degas just outside the desert plants.

The butterflies were unfolding in a special glassed in room.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Garden Cafe under Dale Chihuly glass sculptures.

We finished up our tour with a visit to the giant "da Vinci" horse.  Huge!

We finished up our visit to Grand Rapids at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, know as the GRAM.  We had the museum all to our selves!  The current exhibit focuses on the Great Lakes with large scale water colors and oils by an Upper Peninsula Artist.

Day 4: Oakland County Court Reality and Virtual Reality

Our day began at the Oakland County Courthouse.  We were able to sit in on Judge Ryan's (Rosie's aunt) courtroom.  She was all business and went through a mountain of cases all with mountains of paperwork attached.  The room was packed with lawyers and their clients all waiting for their cases to be heard by Judge Ryan.  All fascinating!

No Photos or cell phones were allowed in the court building.  We went through a security screening like getting on a plane at the airport.

Then off to Trini and Carmen's in Waterford, a long time landmark restaurant.  The food and decor are Mexican.  Portions are huge and delicious.  We had a fabulous lunch with lively conversation about the cases heard in the morning.

We then headed north to Oxford for a taste of virtual reality at Escape VR.  A head set for vision and sound took us away to battle zombies, dive in the ocean and travel through space.  Very weird and very fun.

Day Three: Grace Centers of Hope and a Movie

The girls and the adults had a busy morning at The Grace Centers of Hope early childhood program in Pontiac.  The girls played with and assisted with infants through toddlers.

It warmed up enough to spend time in their playground / park area.

After our time with the young children we headed off for a little fun at the movies.  JUMANJI!!
